The students, staff & teachers of the primary division were delighted to welcome the author of The Great BellyButton Coverup to our school on Friday, May 15th!!! Susan Ross did a fantastic job of entertaining her audience with her newly released story! Susan also gave us insight into some of the stories that she is in the process of writing as well as highlighting her (sheep) craft and her Butterfly kit!!! Susan has an incredible way of telling stories and held the students’ attention for the duration of her presentation.

On October 2 (2008), the primary division had the pleasure of experiencing a wonderful workshop and storytelling time with local author Susan Ross. Mrs. Ross, a former primary teacher and a Stoneybrook resident whom the children recognize when she walks her dog Abby, provided the workshop to our students … The workshop allowed the students to walk through the process with Mrs. Ross of how a creative idea can be developed into a story, tested on the target audience, and then completed for publishing purposes. She shared with us how she discovered her illustrator who is a London student, and how the two collaborated to complete the publishing process. She also entertained us with her wonderful storytelling abilities by presenting her published work as well as allowing us to be her audience for her upcoming Halloween book. The students were greatly enlightened in the writing process and thoroughly entertained. A great time was had by everyone!
